They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and when talking about the landscapes of Merlo, San Luis, this is law. Our town doesn't just have a famous microclimate; it has a privileged geography that offers "postcards" at every turn.

If you're one of those who travels with camera in hand (or smartphone ready for Instagram), we've put together this route with the 5 definitive panoramic points. From the classic spots accessible by car to secret treks for adventurers, here's where to find the best mountain views.

1. Touch the Clouds: Filo Serrano and Mirador del Sol

This is the undisputed classic. Going up Provincial Route 5, the mountain rewards you with incredible views, but there are two must-stop spots:

Mirador del Sol (1,450 masl): A perfect technical stop to buy local crafts and get the first complete panoramic view of the valley.

El Filo (2,200 masl): When you reach the top, you're on the border with Córdoba. From up here you can see two provinces at once: the Conlara Valley to the west and the Calamuchita Valley to the east. The sunsets here, with the sun falling over the immensity, are out of this world.

2. The Classic Photo: Mirador Tala Caído and Merlo Sign

You can't leave without the "official photo." Located on a strategic curve on the way to the filo, this viewpoint has been recently renovated with giant "Villa de Merlo" letters. It's a simple but spectacular stop. The background offers a clean panorama of the city and mountains, ideal for taking home an unforgettable memory.

Expert tip: Go at sunset. The colors of the mountain sky (pinks and oranges) give a magical touch to the photo that you can't get at noon. Plus, there's plenty of space to park and take photos peacefully.

3. Protected Nature: Mogote Bayo Reserve

If you want green landscapes and pure air, this 330-hectare Provincial Reserve is your place. Located at the foot of the mountains, it protects the forest and grassland ecosystem. Here you don't just see the landscape, you walk inside it. It has marked trails like the "Via Crucis Trail" that lead you to natural viewpoints. Ideal for understanding local flora while enjoying clear views of the valley. (Open Thursday to Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM).

4. The Neighboring Gem: Peñón Colorado Viewpoint

This is a secret that few know and that's close to us. Located on the Peñón circuit, this viewpoint offers a unique view towards the Arroyo del Tigre area, surrounded by abundant forest. Access is a small adventure: you go up a gravel path (bring good footwear), and the reward is one of the best sunset views in Merlo, with a different perspective from the traditional tourist circuit.

Fun fact: This viewpoint is just meters away from Solar de los Pájaros. In fact, we share the same hill, so the views you get here are the "home views."

5. Challenge for Adventurers: Cruz del Cerro Chumamaya

Do you like trekking? Then add this to your agenda. Cerro Chumamaya offers a medium-difficulty hike that's worth every step.

Technical Details: It's about 3.4 km (round trip) with 284 meters of elevation gain.

Time: Calculate between 1.5 and 2 hours total. When you reach the summit, the iconic cross and an enormous satisfaction await you. It's the perfect place to enjoy the natural environment in silence, without the noise of cars, and observe the city from a perspective that only those who dare to walk get.

Your Own Private Viewpoint

After visiting these spots and filling your phone memory with incredible photos, you need a place to unwind.

Many tourists don't know it, but you don't need to go far to have great views. By staying at Solar de los Pájaros, located in the same High Zone as Peñón Colorado, the landscape doesn't end when you return from the excursion.

The "Sixth" Viewpoint: Our 6,000 m² park is a panoramic point in itself.

The Experience: Imagine watching the mountains change color at sunset, but this time floating in your private pool or having a drink on the gallery, without having to drive back.

The best landscapes of Merlo are waiting for you (and one is exclusive for you).
